Job Title: Infant and Toddler Teachers

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Job Description: Our Infant and Toddler Teachers are responsible for the care, supervision and management of a class of Infants and Toddlers (8 wks-36 months age) in accord with the goals and curriculum plan of WAEL. The principal duties of the Infant/Toddler Teacher include: conduct focused observations of children, develop action plans, carry out activities on a daily basis and evaluate the effectiveness of child development activities, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of the overall early care and education center. The Infant & Toddler Teacher reports to the Leadership Team: Coaches, Assistant Director, Director, and Owner.

Education and Experience:

  • A Child Develoopment Associate credential (CDA) and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infants and toddlers at a licensed early child care center; or

  • An Associate Degree in child development or early childhood education and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infants and toddlers at a licensed early child care center; or

  • A College Degree in an appropriate human service or education field (e.g. psychology, special education, music, social work) including some courses in child develoopment, and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for infants and toddlers at a licensed early child care center; or

  • A College degree in child development or early education and at least 6 months experience teaching in a part or full day program for infants and toddlers at a licensed early child care center.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a warm, positive, professional, and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families.

  • Must be reliable.

  • Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.

  • Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.

  • Must be a team player.

Work Environment and Expectations

WAEL is a 4 STAR early care and education program that views each child as an individual with a unique developmental profile. Through age appropriate programming, WAEL serves children age 8 weeks to 4 years.

The Mission of WAEL is to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children. To give them the confidence and the tells tools that will guide them on their life’s journey.

Job Title: Preschool Teacher

Job Type: Full Time

Our Preschool Teachers are responsible for executing Creative Curriculum and guiding developmentally appropriate behaviors inside our classroom. They will maintain a caring cooperative relationship with children, parents, and co-workers, and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

Education and Experience:

Applicants need to have experience working with young children and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.

  • A Child Development Associate credential (CDA) in PK-3 and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for preschool at a licensed early child care center; or

  • An Associate Degree in child development or early childhood education and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for preschool at a licensed early child care center; or

  • A College Degree in an appropriate human service or education field (e/g. psychology, special education, music, social work) including some courses in child development, and at least Six (6) months experience in teaching in a part day or full day program for preschool at a licensed early child care center; or

General Pay and Provisions:

  • 40 hour work week with hours between 6:30 AM and 5:30 PM

  • Competitive Compensation Commensurate with Education and Experience

Job Title: PreK-4 Teacher 

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Job Description: We are currently recruiting for experienced Pre-K teachers. Our teachers are responsible for executing Creative Curriculum and guiding developmentally appropriate behaviors in side our classroom. They will maintain a caring, cooperative relationship with children, parents, and co-workers, and demonstrate professionalism at all times. Applicants need to have experience working with young children and knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Early Childhood teachers would be required to, develop the lesson plans for their class, ensure that each student is reaching the required educational milestones, etc.

Qualifications:

Must meet at least one or more of the following requirements:

a) A valid and current Louisiana teaching certificate in PK-3, Nursery School, Kindergarten, Early Interventionist Birth-5, or Noncategorical Preschool Handicapped;

b) A Practitioner License in PreK-3;

c) A valid and current Louisiana teaching certificate in Elementary Education;

d) An uncertified teacher must have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree and current passing scores on Praxis I. An ACT composite score of 22, an SAT combined verbal and math score of 1030, or a Master’s degree may be used in lieu of Praxis I.

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant/Driver

Part-Time: Schedule 7 am - 1 pm Monday - Friday

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under direction of Center Manager, kitchen assistant will work to ensure that, all aspects of nutrition component meet or exceed requirements of USDA.

  • Washing utensils & dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately

  • Sorting, Storing, and distributing ingredients

  • Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs

  • Assists in cooking at child care centers

  • Assists the Kitchen Manager in planning, preparing, and serving food in accordance with established USDA regulations and agency directives that meet proper nutritional requirements

  • Ensure that food is stored and handled properly, and that the kitchen and all its equipment are thoroughly sanitary.

  • Assists in keeping logs to track cleaning duties and responsible for purchasing food and keeping records of those amounts according to agency directives

  • Drives and delivers meals to satellite locations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to read and write effectively.

  • Must have the ability to plan and organize.

  • Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, good driving record and maintain adequate liability insurance.

  • Must be able to attend required meetings and trainings.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

  • Will need to have Safe Serve Certificate or obtain upon hire
