Mayor LaToya Cantrell Visits Wilcox Academy: City Seats in Action

Wilcox Academy of Early Learning was honored to welcome Mayor LaToya Cantrell for a special visit during Carnival season at our newest location on the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) campus.

During her visit, the Mayor spent time with our youngest learners and observed firsthand the impact of the City Seats program, which is currently providing high-quality early childhood education to 35 children at this site—all of whom are fully enrolled.

Wilcox Academy is proud to be part of this important initiative during the second year of the early childhood education millage implementation, working in partnership with the City of New Orleans and community organizations to expand access to quality early learning opportunities for families across the city.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Agenda for Children for their continued leadership and advocacy in early childhood education.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mayor Cantrell for taking the time to engage with our students, staff, and community. Her leadership—as the first New Orleans Mayor to invest directly in early childhood education through the city budget—has helped lay the foundation for expanded access and opportunity for children and families across the city.

Her continued commitment to prioritizing New Orleans’ youngest learners is both impactful and deeply appreciated.

Wilcox Academy remains committed to this shared vision of equity, access, and excellence in early childhood education. Together, we are building stronger foundations and brighter futures for every child we serve.
