Centering Early Childhood at An Evening With Education
Wilcox Academy of Early Learning Executive Director Rochelle Wilcox recently had the honor of serving as a panelist at An Evening With Education, hosted by NOLA Public Schools, where candidates for public office engaged directly with educators, families, and community members.
During the discussion, she emphasized the critical importance of Early Care and Education, highlighting that the first thousand days of a child’s life are foundational in shaping long-term learning, development, and opportunity.
Some of the most meaningful moments of the evening took place beyond the formal panel. A former Wilcox Academy parent shared the joy of seeing her son now thriving in second grade, while another family member expressed pride in her high school senior attending Notre Dame and receiving a WilReachOne scholarship. These personal stories served as powerful reminders of the lasting impact early learning has on children and families over time.
Wilcox Academy extends gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this important civic conversation. We remain committed to ensuring that Early Childhood Education stays at the center of policy, investment, and community dialogue—because strong beginnings build strong futures for New Orleans.
