Louisiana Leaders at the Center of Early Learning Advocacy

Wilcox Academy of Early Learning Executive Director Rochelle Wilcox was honored to join a distinguished panel of Louisiana leaders at the National Child Care Aware of America Conference, contributing to national conversations on early childhood education, collaboration, and systems change.

The panel featured:

  • Jen Roberts, CEO, Agenda for Children

  • Libbie Sonnier, CEO, Louisiana Policy Institute for Children

  • Asya Howlette, Director, Office of Youth and Families, City of New Orleans

  • Taylor Dunn, Director, Watershed Advisors; formerly Louisiana Department of Education

Together, these leaders explored how collaboration, community engagement, and courageous leadership have shaped Louisiana’s growing model for early learning advocacy and reform.

During the “Collaborating for Change” plenary and “From Vision to Action” session, discussions centered on a shared truth: meaningful progress happens when providers, policymakers, and families come together at the same table—listening, learning, and leading collectively.

Wilcox expressed pride in representing Louisiana, its children, and the providers who continue to demonstrate what is possible when the field moves forward in unity and purpose.

On a personal note, she also reflected on the significance of showing up fully in every space, honoring her grandmother’s influence—carrying forward lessons of love, faith, and cultural pride that continue to ground her leadership and presence.
